Hübsch und kuschelig warm

Vorgestern habe ich eine supersüße Blutgeschwisterjacke gefunden, weiß aber nicht, ob ich sie in zeitlosem Grau oder in auffälligem Grün (oder ist das eher senf???) nehmen soll. Keine Ahnung, ob mir diese Farbe denn stehen würde???

Über sachdienliche Hinweise würde ich mich sehr freuen…

Hübsch und praktisch

Wenn man – wie ich – auf die klassische “bol” für Café au lait steht, dem wird vermutlich auch die neue Kaffeetassenserie von KOZIOL gefallen. Diese verbinden die klassische Schalenform mit farbigen “Isolierstreifen”, damit man sich nicht die Finger verbrennt, wenn man gedankenverloren nach Kaffee oder Tee greift. Bleibt noch herauszufinden, ob man sich trotzdem an diesen Tassen an kalten Herbst- und Winterabenden die Hände wärmen kann.

Why humans commit crimes

According to the social psychologist Roy Baumeister all kinds of crimes can be traced back to 4 motivations:

1. The majority of crimes is commited as a means to an end: e.g. robbery in order to quickly come to money without having to work, sexual abuse in order to satisfy the sex drive, genocide because of scarcity of resources.
2. Crime motivated by ideology: e.g. national socialism, religious fundamentalism
   Roy Baumeister: “These people are trying to bring about a change. They are committed to very high positive ideals and they want to impose these on others and they want to use violence to make the world a better place. (…) I certainly don’t approve of what they are doing. But to understand what they are doing from their point of view, their violence is in service of a positive goal and a positive good.”
3. Crimes because of threatened egotism: Despite the widely held belief that violence is mostly attributed to weak people who hit hard in order to enhance their low self-esteem, the opposite is the case: Most and for all narcissists (people with an inflated ego) often react with aggression if others don’t consider them as awesome as they view themselves.
   “The third is what I called threatened egotism. This is the view that people or groups have favorable views of themselves and they become violent at others who question those. Whether it is a member of a gang who feels that someone else has shown disrespect. (…) Or a husband who beats his wife has often a sense, she doesn’t respect him as much as he thinks she should.” (Roy Baumeister)
4. Violence due to sadism: Many crime thrillers picture the lust for hurting or killing others as motivation for violence, but luckily enough sadism is rather rare. However, it still plays a role: Most often murderers kill for other reasons, but after a while they get used to it and they realise that they somehow like it. The way the body regulates its emotional state provides an explanation for this phenomenon: In a strained situation the body tries to restore the balance by reinterpreting the situation and mobilising positive emotions. In this sense, killing or hurting others is percieved as a ego-booster – endorphins are liberated. This process of reinterpretation is the more successful the more often it is carried out – until finally the positive emotions prevail.

Endlich! Am 18.9. – kurz vor meinem Urlaub auf Balkonien – kommt die nächste Ausgabe des Cut-Magazines in die Bahnhofsbuchhandlungen und Special Interest Stores. (Von der ersten Ausgabe habe ich hier berichtet)

Ich kann es kaum noch erwarten – und werde alles daran setzen, mir bis dahin eine funktionstüchtige Nähmaschine zu ersteigern. Derzeit schwanke ich zwischen einer “Futura 2010″ und einer “Detmold Lady”.
